The Many Faces of Quartz Crystals

The Many Faces of Quartz Crystals - Copper Bug Jewelry

Quartz has been the common chameleon of gemstones throughout history, standing in for more expensive gemstones ranging from Diamond to Jade. But in my opinion, the incredible variety of Quartz should be appreciated for its own sake. I adore all Quartz varieties such as Amethyst, Citrine, Ametrine, Tiger’s Eye, Rose Quartz, Onyx, Agates, Chrysoprase, Rutilated Quartz (Rutile Quartz), and other Quartz gemstone varieties and you can find them all often in my work. It is a passion of mine to create jewelry and other beautiful pieces with these adorable gems.

Large Clear Quartz Point - Copper Bug Jewelry

Quartz comes in many different flavors. The crystal comes in many shapes, colors, and crystalline structural habits. Let’s explore further the world of quartz crystals and see what these varieties are. When you buy your next Quartz jewelry piece from Copper Bug Jewelry, you will know what flavor you have. 🤗

Rose Quartz Freeform - Copper Bug Jewelry

Rose Quartz

Rose Quartz color is ashen and delicate powder pink to bright and robust purple. Transparent Rose Quartz or gemmy rose quartz is very rare and is usually so pale that it does not show very much color except in large sizes. This type of rose quartz is most often found in Mozambique but can be found in other parts of the world as well.

Smokey Quartz on a Black Background - Copper Bug Jewelry

Smokey Quartz

The color of Smokey Quartz is variable from brown to black, and sometimes smoky grey colored specimens are included as Smoky Quartz. The cause of the color of Smoky Quartz is in question, but it is almost certainly related to the amount of exposure to radiation that the stone has undergone. 99% of the time, a gemstone offered as Smoky Topaz is this variety of Quartz.

Chalcedony

Chalcedony is chemically known as silicon dioxide, and this is the natural chemical structure of all quartz minerals. The variety of Chalcedony is even greater than transparent quartz varieties because it includes Cryptocrystalline Quartz with patterns and a wide range of solid colors. In the Mediterranean region, Chalcedony was being used as early as the Bronze Age. The name Chalcedony is used to describe a species of gemstone and not a single one. Many variations of Chalcedony are below:

Funky Agate Slice - Copper Bug Jewelry

Agate

This is one type of Chalcedony, whose main character is that it exhibits a transparent but colorful pattern; the stone has multicolored banding that can either be straight or curved. Agate has many other types: Mexican agate, Turritella agate, Greek agate, Brazilian agate, Polyhedroid agate, and Rainbow agate.

Aventurine

This is another select type of chalcedony quartz stone with high clarity. The several platy mineral inclusions found within the crystals produce a particular shimmering appears, or glistening look, that is so unique that it is called aventurescence.

Carnelian

Carnelian, which is also sometimes spelled as Cornelian, is another form of Chalcedony that has a clear to translucent transparency and has a red to brown color.

Raw Chrysoprase in a Jar - Copper Bug Jewelry

Chrysoprase

Chrysoprase is another form of Chalcedony characterized by a green color brought about by nickel oxide.

Heliotrope

Heliotrope is a form of Chalcedony that is also known as Bloodstone. It has a high number of red inclusions brought about by iron oxide.

Moss Agate

Also sometimes known as Tree Agate, Moss Agate is a form of Chalcedony characterized by fluffy green filament-shaped inclusions, which makes the gemstone look like it has moss within it or blue cheese.

Mtorolite

A less-known form of Chalcedony, Mtrololite has a green color attributed to chromium; it also goes by Chrome Chalcedony. This is a gemstone that is principally found in Zimbabwe.

Onyx

Onyx is a variant of agate that has white and black banding. The varieties of Onyx that have red, orange, or brown colors banded with white are called Sardonyx.

It always amazes me the variety of Quartz there are in the world. Do you have a favorite kind? Leave a comment below and tell me what it is and why!

You might be tempted to go beyond usual, easy, or comfortable. Aquarius season is the perfect time to start disregarding the opinions and judgments of people nearby, like your colleagues or IG followers.

Aquarian energy is often associated with warmth, kindness, open-mindedness, and humanitarianism, while some moments may be more chaotic, unpredictable, and distant.

This post is ideal for anyone who wants to make a good impression during the season of Aquarius. Get the five best crystals to unleash your inner power this season below.

Amethyst: To Give You Some Inner Peace

This beautiful gemstone is not only an Aquarius' birthstone but it's also known to bring strength and inner peace. Wearing this close to your heart will make you feel more comfortable looking toward the future.

As a result of its ruling planet Uranus, Aquarius season may bring with it nervous energies. During this time, these influences may cause you to be overly hasty or inflexible, especially when making decisions about the future.

Amethyst is a high-frequency crystal that boosts memory formation. As a Crystal of Peace and Transformation, it can also assist with inner reflection, making it helpful for meditation. By tuning into the frequency of amethyst, you'll be able to examine your reactions and behaviors to become more open and relaxed.

Apatite: To Embrace Your Compassion

Apatite is best known for inspiring action! During the Aquarius season, it's common to fixate on higher-level visions and broad plans. Apatite can give you an extra boost of motivation to follow through with your creative concepts and original ideas.

The ocean-blue stone also encourages your charitable side. The Apatite can help you maintain a positive outlook when contemplating a change or viewing the situation from another angle, for example. The stone is used for a noble cause.

Moonstone: To Spark New Beginnings

With its links to the lunar cycle and feminine energy, moonstone can teach you to accept the ebb and flow of life's rhythms.

During the Aquarius season, be mindful of Uranus's tendency to shape the world in its rigid image, which can sometimes lead to conflict. Moonstone helps to stabilize emotions during this time, thus demonstrating how we must accept the same phases that the moon goes through, just like in life.
